News from the Lower School

Week of Sept. 18

Happy Fri-Yay LS Families,

As we look to prepare students for a life well lived, one of the foundational pillars to accomplishing that is helping them develop a genuine love for reading.  We believe reading is not just a skill, but a lifelong companion that enriches the mind and soul.  Whether through read-alouds, letter practice and word study, or guided reading and independent reading times, our teachers do an excellent job fostering a love for reading in our students.

In nurturing a love for reading, we empower our students to make sense of the world around them. Reading broadens their horizons, exposes them to different perspectives, and enables them to think critically. It also equips them with the tools to connect and build authentic relationships with people from diverse backgrounds, fostering empathy and understanding. Reading fuels their curiosity, sparks creativity, and kindles the fires of ambition. Beyond that, it ignites passions within them that will propel them to set the world ablaze! As partners, we encourage you to join us in this journey to instill the joy of reading in our students, for it is a gift that will serve them well throughout their lives!

With Gratitude,

Jonathan
