The Parents' Community has supplied equipment for various forms of hands-on learning at all levels, including digital photography equipment in the Middle School and science equipment like DNA kits in the Upper School.
What we fund
One function of the Parents' Community is fundraising for our school. One hundred percent of profits from events like the annual auction, book fairs, bake sales, etc. goes back to SDS – to our students, our teachers and our programs.
From the Preschool Outdoor Learning Cove to the school garden, the Parents' Community is proud to offer assistance for innovative outdoor learning opportunities for students of all ages.
We embrace learning environments where students thrive and often grant requests to fund age-appropriate classroom furnishings like moveable Node desks and chairs that allow collaboration and flexibility.
Beginning in seventh grade, every student participates in at least one sport. The Parents' Community supports our student-athletes by providing equipment as needed.
Arts are an important part of a Spartanburg Day School eduction. The Parents' Community supports this programming by providing equipment and supplies as requested, like new percussion instruments for the band.
Starting at an early age, students learn how learning can be enhanced with the right technology, like laptops and iPads.
