Happy Friday, Griffins! It's been a productive week as we settled into our routine. The campus is full of positive energy, and the Upper Classmen have done an excellent job setting the right tone in Presnell. I want to update you on recent events and share a few important reminders. 

Back-to-School Bash Highlights: As this post is going live, Upper School students are still enjoying the Back-to-School Bash. Due to the record high temps, we moved the event inside to Stone Gym. Despite the change, the kids are having a blast! Students are enjoying spirited dodgeball games, inflatable obstacle course races, and the opportunity to relax and socialize. Many thanks to our Student Government organization for hosting this event. Witnessing the laughter, friendship, and enthusiasm as our students reconnect with old friends and forge new bonds is heartwarming. I hope the students carry this sense of togetherness and positivity with us throughout the year.

Important Reminders: As we move forward, I would like to remind all students, parents, and guardians of a few noteworthy points:

• Arrival Time for Extracurriculars: Students participating in extracurricular activities, including sports, must arrive at school by 10:00 a.m. to be eligible to participate. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise. If a student anticipates being late due to a medical appointment or other valid reason, please ensure you provide a doctor's excuse or contact an administrator directly. 
• Honor Code Assembly and Speaker - Tuesday, August 29 - Dress-Up Day: We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Boone Hopkins to campus on Tuesday. Dr. Hopkins will speak with Upper School students on the value of honor & integrity in the academic setting and beyond. This program is part of our larger commitment to the SDS Honor Code. Students should dress nicely for the day. Coats, ties, dresses, slacks, blouses, etc. are strongly encouraged. 
• SAT/Standardized Test Prep: Dr. Chris Duncan will offer school-sponsored SAT/Standardized test prep beginning Sunday, September 10. The sessions will be held in the Seminar Room and are geared toward sophomores and juniors. Seniors who are still testing and would like to attend are certainly welcome. While it is obviously beneficial for students to attend all sessions, we understand that not every student can make every class.  Students are asked to give Dr. Duncan notice if there are dates on which they cannot attend. He will be sending out a registration form soon.

• Upper School Parents' Night - Wednesday, August 30: We are excited to welcome Upper School parents to campus for a meet and greet, beginning in Dent Gallery at 6:00 and moving to Presnell classrooms following a brief opening. 
• Drop/Add Deadline is Friday, September 8: Students wishing to adjust their schedule must do so by next Friday. Students should email Mrs. Phillips with requests and are encouraged to meet with a college counselor before seeking changes.
• Open Communication: Should you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, our doors are always open. We value your feedback and are here to support students in every possible way.
