Spartanburg Day School is pleased to announce the opening of the new Griffin Clinic, a convenient healthcare option exclusively for members of the school community.
Opening with the start of the 2023-24 school year, the Griffin Clinic will offer expanded health and wellness services, beyond the scope of the school nurse's office. Griffin Clinic participants will receive on-campus care from a registered nurse practitioner with the ability to test for and diagnose common illnesses and write prescriptions for treatment. All SDS students will have the opportunity to enroll at a cost of $500 per year, billed directly through a family's FACTS account.
Students enrolled in the Griffin Clinic can now be treated during the school day without needing to leave campus. Established as an extension of a primary care provider, not a replacement, Clinic services include but are not limited to diagnosis and treatment for ear infections, flu, skin rashes, upper respiratory infections and sore throat. The Clinic will be open during school hours or as needed to serve the community’s needs. Additionally, Telehealth services – remote visits via a mobile device or computer – will be offered to prevent the spread of infection in the school setting while still providing access to high-quality care.
Students opting out of the Griffin Clinic will continue to receive access to care from the SDS nurse's office for basic medical needs like over-the-counter medications, bandaids, ice packs, scheduled medication administrations and emergency care, then referred to their primary care provider for further treatment.
