SUNNY HUCKABY APPOINTED AS NEXT HEAD OF LOWER SCHOOL

After an extensive nationwide search that included a pool of several highly qualified candidates, Sunny Huckaby has been appointed as Spartanburg Day School's next head of Lower School. Mrs. Huckaby most recently served as assistant head of school at Southfield School in Shreveport, La. She will begin in her new role on July 1.

2020 YOUNG ALUMNI COLLEGE PANEL

Many thanks to our young alumni Bonnie Parrott '16, Julia Thompson '17, Charles Overcarsh '18, Ivan Gu '18, and Hank Barron '19 for sharing their college application do's and don'ts as well as their advice on getting accustomed to college life.  Our juniors and seniors loved it and asked lots of good questions.

It's always lots of fun for our faculty to welcome back our young alumni during the holidays.  It's amazing how much our Griffins change in such a short time, but once a Griffin, always a Griffin.

Robbie Thorton '13

Our alumni who serve in the military after graduation are so worthy of our respect and admiration.  Recently Robbie Thorton '13   visited SDS after retiring from Active Duty in the US Army.  Robbie said, "SDS taught me to pursue my passions over everything else.  Because of the standards and lessons taught by SDS and its faculty, I had past experiences to fall onto that helped me lead effectively."  

Donna. Davis Thornton '82 , Robbie's mother, says it best: "We are so very proud of you, Robbie, and thankful there are people like you in the US who choose to serve in such a meaningful way."  Go Griffins!
